With Marcel van de Vis Heil & Joachim Meire
Join Marcel and Joachim in this Breathwork training! This training will give you a solid understanding of our breath, its mechanism, the anatomy of the respiratory system, the importance of proper breathing and the science behind it. You will also learn to teach this matter to others.
Breathwork
Breathwork is a mix of traditional (pranayama) and modern breathing exercises. The impact of the exercises is felt immediately - they have a biochemical, biomechanical and psychological influence on body and mind. Breathwork promotes sleep, emotional well-being, immunity, focus, performance and physical balance. Some also have a profoundly spiritual experience during breathwork. It includes a toolbox of breathing exercises that you can do anywhere, anytime in the event of stress, anxiety, or when a mental shift or performance enhancement is needed.
Metacognition
Poor breathing, which is at the root of many physical and mental health problems, is usually a learned pattern. Metacognition techniques are an important tool in breaking the pattern of incorrect breathing. Scientifically, there is a direct link between breathing and our attention span. Metacognition is the ability to consciously observe, regulate and adjust cognitive processes (thoughts, emotions, feelings). Becoming aware of functional and dysfunctional patterns helps us to tap into our full potential and to be more successful in life. Conscious breathing and meditation are important metacognitive exercises used in Breathwork to bio-hack the autonomic nervous system such that chronic stress disappears over time. This boosts physical and mental health and immunity and promotes a long, happy and healthy life.
Respiratory fitness
In Breathwork, you will learn specific exercises to relax and strengthen the breathing muscles. This will eventually allow you to breathe efficiently and functionally, both at rest and during exercise. Strengthening and stretching the primary respiratory and postural muscles helps to increase sports performance and to address back problems.

About Joachim
Joachim Meire is an international recognized yoga teacher and breath coach. And yet he himself has sensitive lungs that forced him to dive into breathing techniques. He previously wrote 'The No-nonsense Yoga book' and 'Yoga with Evy'. His recent book 'Adem' was published in April 2022.
Backed by science and a bachelor's degree in paramedics, Joachim studied a series of breathing exercises, some of which go back to ancient yoga traditions. Step by step, he explains in his book how you can train yourself through breathing to better deal with certain health ailments. Big advantage: you can do breathing exercises anytime and anywhere and the effects are very quickly and clearly noticeable!
Joachim teaches from a lived experience, in an inspiring way and always with a touch of humour. More information about Joachim and his other Teacher Trainings can be found on the websites of Yogaloft, Seaside Yoga Retreats and Yogatele.
